East Devon was the perfect stage for this year’s DCVLGA and the Under-18 Devon Girls fixture, hosted by 2025 DCVLGA Captain Deirdre Mackness at her home club. Despite the blustery breeze the sun shone on a day filled with camaraderie, competition and community spirit.
In a break from the traditional Matchplay where Girls V Vets the new format of 4BBB was played. Seven four-ball teams were formed, each team consisting of two Lady Vets and two Girls who played as a team with one score from Vets and one score from Girls to count on each hole, creating a fun and inclusive twist on the competition. In total 17 clubs were represented across Devon. The two best Teams scores on the day won a small prize. After play a carvery lunch was enjoyed by all. A cheque for £350 was donated to The Girls Development Fund from the DCVLGA.
The annual fixture continues to be a highlight of the Devon Golf calendar, bringing together different generations of players. The new format was a clear hit making the event more sociable and fun. The chatter and laughter in the clubhouse was proof that golf truly is a game to be shared and enjoyed across the decades. (See full article in Devon Golf.
